August turned over the current situation in his mind.
It seemed that woman, Loretta, had not gone to Ain's side.
What on earth was that old woman thinking?
Cassian let out a long sigh and sneered. “To think I actually believed your nonsense.”
“You dead old man, you clearly know nothing, yet you still put on such a front...”
“Forget it. Since the potions are gone, so be it.”
Cassian channeled his mana and poured himself a fresh cup of tea.
“Do you really think the creation of a god comes without a price?”
After taking a sip of tea, Cassian gently blew across its surface.
“We merely sped up the process a little.”
August stared at him coldly. Channelling his own mana, he swept all the tea on the tray away.
It was time to end this conversation.
August said in a cold voice, “We have nothing more to talk about.”
“How she chooses should be decided by Erylin herself, not—”
Before August could finish, Cassian stood up, let out a long breath, and sneered. “Not decided by us? A fine suggestion, old man.”
“Do you know the difference between us Diviners and you Mages?”
Cassian smoothed his clothes as he walked toward the door.
“Is it seeing through fate, knowing the path ahead before it even appears?”
“Dead old man, you should really ask our Dean. Ask her exactly how much she had to pay to reach where she is today.”
With a sinister smile, Cassian continued, “Letting fate develop in the direction one desires is, in itself, burning away one's own life.”
“A so-called Diviner merely uses the glimmer of intuition to measure the unknown path of return within the fog of fate.”
Cassian had reached the door. He turned the lock and stepped halfway out.
“To put it plainly...”
Cassian tapped his own forehead.
“Intuition.”
“From the very first day I saw Erylin, I knew she would definitely become that kind of person.”
“The kind of person who wouldn't hesitate to harm her loved ones just for power.”
Seeing the look of shock on August's face, Cassian added with immense satisfaction. “The academy's school beauty? A well-behaved student?”
“Surprising, isn't it? Those are merely disguises she uses to protect herself.”
“Some choices are destined from the start. That is fate.”
“Erylin is someone who completely hides her past and her vulnerability, using a hypocritical exterior to deceive everyone around her. She has already given up on herself, so what kind of choice do you still expect her to make?”
“You know, people who are pushed forward by fate like this are the absolute favorites of The Lovers.”
“Rather than saying she will become our puppet, wouldn't it be more accurate to say she will become that deity's puppet?”
With that, Cassian shut the door with a click.
But a split second later, as if finding some lingering amusement, Cassian pushed the door open slightly once more.
A faint, mocking smile flickered in his cold eyes as he spoke. “Oh, right. That dragon you were all worrying about recently? I was the one who drew it here, too.”
“I indeed don't know who the Blessed of the God of Light is.”
“But if I kill everyone present, we won't need an answer to that question, will we?”
Cassian's smile was terrifying, dripping with absolute arrogance and confidence.
“That evil, brutal dragon will surely tear him to shreds!”
...
“Lady Angelica, this is your third bag today! No, you are not allowed to eat any more!”
Dressed in a blue and white dress, Angelica sat beside Grace. The two of them were currently inside a small tent.
Angelica happily wagged her dragon tail, her face overflowing with sheer bliss. She clutched a bag of snacks tightly in her hands, her cheeks puffed out like a food-guarding hamster. She looked incredibly adorable.
“Just one more bag! One more bag and I'll take you to find that guy! The one you miss day and night, the one chosen by mother! Grace, are you really going to stop here?”
Grace stared tearfully at the culprit who had devoured her favorite snacks, completely speechless.
“Fine...”
“Just... only one more bag, okay!”
