One could only say there was a reason the “Search, Fight, Withdraw” loop was so popular.
Watching the crowd inside The MixC excitedly hauling away goods like a band of bandits, Mo Shao couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
She remembered when they first entered The MixC; everyone had looked like they were about to vomit, and it took a good while for them to adjust.
After all, with so many resources, The MixC had naturally become a gathering point for a major “faction,” and consequently, it had been attacked by zombie tides.
That inevitably meant there were rivers of blood and severed limbs everywhere—well, the pieces weren’t very whole; anything remotely intact had already been eaten.
And what had this group encountered before?
Minecraft monsters simply vanished upon death. Object-type monsters left behind their original forms, which were just pots, pans, and ladles.
Tacet Discords dissipated on the spot, occasionally leaving behind an Echo. Monsters from Genshin Impact simply returned to the ley lines.
Thus, their experience was still quite limited. As long as they didn’t actively dismember a monster, they rarely saw much blood.
Even over at Dragonspine, it was so cold that even if a monster bled, the blood froze instantly.
Now, they had clearly moved from a PG-12 setting to an R-18 one—perhaps even more extreme; this definitely earned a “G” for Gore!
The sheer level of carnage was on a completely different scale, so it was only natural for them to feel some discomfort at the first sight of it.
However, some people in the team had already died, and they had fought so many times before that it wasn't like they were completely incapable of handling it.
Moreover, under the temptation of the “Search, Fight, Withdraw” cycle, many quickly forgot their revulsion and shifted into a state of excited resource collection.
One could only say that human adaptability was truly formidable.
...
While she was musing, Mo Shao’s hands didn't stop moving. She casually grabbed a handful of mints and stuffed them into a storage bag.
She had naturally maxed out her supply of such a convenient item back at the village. Fortunately, these things could be stacked!
One of the reasons apocalypse novels were so popular was likely the thrill of “taking whatever you want without paying.”
While their stated goal was to find bicycles, everyone knew they wouldn't stop at just that.
After all, the amount of stuff in The MixC was absurdly high!
Collecting some items was indeed necessary, so an hour was allotted for everyone to scavenge.
Several high-ranking members of the team even traded for storage bags from her—for a price, of course, as her stock was limited.
Unlike the monsters in Minecraft, the animals didn't just come knocking on her door, so storage bags were currently a limited resource.
She wouldn't achieve “storage bag freedom” until she found a pair of cows to breed. That would depend on luck.
She originally had four storage bags. Each bag could hold sixteen others, but they couldn't be nested recursively, so she had a total of sixty-eight.
That was a bit excessive, so she sold eight of them to exchange for various materials.
However, the most crucial part of these trades was that she had officially acquired full ownership of the Pure Originium!
Since everyone had fought that Pompeii together, it hadn't strictly belonged to her until now.
...
As for whether she was selling them too cheaply?
Not really. The main thing was that if she didn't sell the storage bags now, their value would plummet later.
This was because the upcoming island map would have a bunch of backpacks that could also be used as storage items.
Otherwise, how else would they fit that massive snowmobile inside?
So, she sold them a bit on the cheap, earning some favors in the process.
While not everyone would honor a favor, some would, so it was a net gain.
As for the rest of the people, she naturally sold some to them as well, trading for all the various materials they had on hand.
However, since most people had very few personal belongings, they mostly “pooled their money” to buy a storage bag.
In other words, several people were sharing a single bag.
By the time Mo Shao was done selling—even after giving three to Little Ka—she still had forty-five storage bags on her.
It was a bit of a shame; she actually wanted to sell a few more and only keep about thirty-four for herself.
...
So, what did Mo Shao collect during this time?
First, she used one storage bag specifically for a set of basic survival tools that even an ordinary person could use.
Food, water, a lighter, a multi-tool knife, a flashlight, duct tape, rope... all very ordinary things.
It was Mo Shao's last resort for emergencies. Of course, she hoped this bag would never have to be opened.
Next, she collected a vast amount of medicine. This was hard currency; becoming a Dead-binder didn't mean one wouldn't get sick.
In fact, some individuals whose bodies became more fragile due to the nature of their Dead-bound objects were actually more prone to illness than before.
There were even some Transformers whose transformation subjects had the “sickly” trait written directly into their character settings.
Therefore, medicine was still very valuable.
After that, she collected various types of tobacco, alcohol, and small snacks, such as candy and chocolate. These things were equally valuable.
Tobacco and alcohol were items that some fantasy works avoided, especially tobacco, so they rarely appeared in fantasy settings.
Furthermore, there were very few works that portrayed tobacco as something powerful—because that usually led directly to heavy drug implications.
Consequently, no one dared to touch them, at least not in Huaxia. In some foreign places... they were probably rampant.
Because of this, the value of these ordinary cigarettes wasn't much lower than the value of cigarettes in a standard apocalypse.
As for alcohol, however, many fantasy works featured much better varieties of liquor.
Thus, the value of ordinary alcohol was slightly lower.
But that only applied to a small number of people; most still drank ordinary alcohol, so its value didn't change much.
Snacks were in a similar situation to alcohol—and those were mainly to satisfy her own cravings.
In her previous life, she had been a miserable motorcycle her entire existence. Couldn't she treat her taste buds well in this life?!
Someone like Little Ka had scurried off to grab all sorts of food and drink, especially various types of “wheat juice”... her influence was clearly deepening.
Of course, she was likely that kind of person to begin with; otherwise, she wouldn't have been “assimilated” so quickly.
No one became an Innate Transformer for no reason...
After that, Mo Shao went to collect a batch of tents, sleeping bags, iron pots... and other such items for outdoor living.
Minecraft items weren't entirely universal, and there would always be times when they weren't practical, so she needed a backup plan.
Odds and ends, bits and pieces—in short, Mo Shao packed away everything she thought she might need.
She stuffed everything into storage bags first, and then into her large backpack... It was a bit inconvenient this way. She really wanted a storage ring.
