“Is there anything I can help with?”
Little Ka furrowed her brows, still looking worried in her typical caring manner.
“Nothing I can’t handle, so don’t worry,” Mo Shao replied, feeling a warmth in her chest as she shook her head. If she couldn’t settle these things herself, then probably no one else could.
“Hmm… alright.” Little Ka stared into Mo Shao’s eyes for a moment, and only after confirming she wasn’t just putting on a brave face did she finally relax slightly.
“Then, where are we heading next?”
“We’ll develop ourselves in Seven Hills City for a while, then head north to Avenulin,” Mo Shao explained briefly, outlining her future plans.
“And your own affairs?”
“I’ll complete my tasks along the way.”
Through her Pathfinding ability, Mo Shao had already identified several fortuitous encounter points in the same direction. She planned to stop and collect them as they traveled.
“I see.” Little Ka nodded slowly as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. At the same time, she couldn’t help but remark, “You really know so much.”
“It’s just a few of my abilities,” Mo Shao gave a short answer. “One is Identification; you can ask me if there’s anything you don’t understand. The other is Pathfinding, which is how I was able to find Seven Hills City directly.”
Since both abilities were auxiliary types and weren't some crucial secret, she naturally saw no need to hide them.
“So that’s how it is,” Little Ka said, realization dawning on her.
Afterward, they chatted casually about various things. Little Ka’s form of address for Mo Shao also changed. Since Mo Shao was older than her, Little Ka switched to calling her “Sister Mo.”
Of course, she would still call her Sister Hui in the outside world. Mo Shao had mentioned that there were certain abilities specifically targeting names. In exchange, Little Ka also told Mo Shao her real name.
“Tang Xika.” One had to admit that as a Transformer, her name’s similarity to her character’s was top-tier—she had actually been a sports student as well.
However, it was likely they would never need to use those names again. As the influence of the transformation deepened, most people’s real names were eventually forgotten.
Time flew by as they talked. As late night approached, it was finally time to rest. After finishing their respective washing and organizing their living space, they bid each other goodnight, found their own bedrooms, and fell into a deep sleep.
Mo Shao hadn’t even expected herself to fall asleep the moment her eyes closed. Her physical condition was perfectly fine, after all.
Clearly, sleep is one of the greatest human desires. When she was outside without a safe place, she could only manage short naps. Now that she was safe, her body instinctively wanted a long rest. In short, it was a night of peaceful slumber.
However, she was ultimately a reborn survivor and wasn't overly exhausted, so Mo Shao woke up early the next morning.
“Hooo—ah—” She let out a long yawn as tears pricked the corners of her eyes, her entire mind feeling refreshed. “Now that was a good sleep.”
After her exclamation, Mo Shao lingered in bed for a bit before reluctantly getting up to wash in the bathroom.
The water in the Wilderness was essentially an inexhaustible resource, at least under normal circumstances. After all, there was enough water here to form an ocean.
This was supported by lore from the source game. When entering the Wilderness, a loading screen prompt stated, “Someone once claimed they witnessed the moment a small lake merged into flowing water in the Wilderness.” Thus, there was no need to worry about running out.
If push came to shove, Mo Shao could even pour out a bucket of infinite water from Minecraft.
There were three other quotes in the game regarding the Wilderness’s environment.
The first was also about the water: “The quality of the waters in the Wilderness is exceptionally stable and does not seem to be affected by other liquids.” This essentially guaranteed both “water safety” and “water quality.”
The following two were related to the climate and ecology.
“The weather patterns in the Wilderness seem to follow no rules; past experience in weather prediction is useless here.”
“Wilderness plants do not rely on the climate to grow; one can often witness the bizarre sight of flowers from different seasons blooming simultaneously.”
Hmm… perhaps when she started farming later, she would need to set up some protective measures. Mo Shao naturally intended to farm inside the Wilderness. After entering this place, the idea had taken root—this was a basic instinct carved into the soul of every person from Huaxia!
Then again, the various crops from Minecraft didn’t seem to care about environmental factors. At most, it was just a question of whether there was water near the tilled land.
Regardless, this couldn’t be delayed. She would start planting later and let them grow slowly. She hadn’t reached the point of having infinite Bone Meal yet.
Most of it had been consumed by the Frostbearing Tree, so she had to save the remainder for emergencies.
Still, she would wait until Little Ka woke up. The area she planned to till was quite large, and even with a Minecraft hoe, it would be quite a chore. Besides, she wanted Little Ka to have a sense of participation.
As for what Mo Shao could do now? Naturally, it was to investigate the items in the room!
A bunch of miscellaneous things were stored here, and among them were things Mo Shao could actually use—various incantations. For instance, there were things like “Instant Arrival,” “Harmonic Rite,” and “Interference Rite”—exactly what a self-taught Witch like her needed!
Even though she had no one to teach her and had to rely on self-study… she believed in her own talent! She believed in the dual buffs of being both a Magical Girl and a Witch!
However… reality proved that Mo Shao had overestimated herself.
“Morning, Sister Mo—” Roughly two hours after Mo Shao woke up, Little Ka finally sauntered out of her room. Her clothes were slightly disheveled, exposing a bit of her fragrant shoulder, and she still looked a bit drowsy.
“Morning, Little Ka…” Mo Shao replied feebly.
“Hmm? What’s wrong?” Little Ka immediately noticed Mo Shao’s odd state and quickly perked up.
“It’s nothing. I just feel like magic is so hard to learn.” Mo Shao lifted her head from the pile of books, her face full of bewilderment. How could words even be combined in such a manner?
In the game settings, these were probably called Arcanums or something similar, but she just collectively called them magic for convenience.
The systems merging from the Phantom Realm were a chaotic mess; who had the time to strictly follow every setting? It was enough to categorize them into broad types.
As for why she found it difficult to learn… it could only be said that as someone who started out as a robot, her thinking was still a bit too rationalized. She learned the incantations that were more “scientific”—those originating from the St. Pavlov Foundation—relatively quickly.
However, even if they were scientific, it meant they required a vast amount of “fundamentals,” and she had to learn all that basic knowledge first. It would likely take a lot of time; after all, these weren't game skill books that could be learned instantly with a tap of her hands. That was still the better scenario, as Mo Shao could at least understand them.
But as for those more metaphysical incantations unearthed from god-knows-where… she simply couldn't make heads or tails of them.
I need to change myself a bit… Mo Shao suddenly realized.
