Better clear this up first.
After a brief hesitation, Mo Shao suggested, “You’d better find somewhere else to go. Staying with us will only lead to trouble.”
“Eh, why?” the Golfer asked, sounding a bit confused.
“Specifically, it’s like this…” Mo Shao began a detailed explanation for the Golfer, covering everything about Transformers.
“Ssss…” After hearing the full story, the Golfer couldn’t help but suck in a breath of cold air. “The outside world really is dangerous!”
“That’s why I suggest you find another place to stay,” Mo Shao said, nodding seriously. “And you should probably use some kind of disguise.”
While the Golfer’s appearance was somewhat humanoid, his pixelated style was still very prominent.
Furthermore, the fact that a Terraria desert biome existed near Seven Hills City was already common knowledge among the people in the city.
It was safe to assume that the existence of a Golfer NPC in the Underground Desert was a secret that most people had already heard about.
After all, Mo Shao knew that quite a few people were looking to make a move on him.
It couldn’t be helped. For Dead-binders, the advantages of being a Transformer were simply too great, with only minor side effects.
So, if this Golfer appeared in Seven Hills City, he would inevitably be highly suspected of being an NPC rather than a Transformer.
Since he hadn’t Dead-bound anything yet, his strength wasn’t particularly high, making him an easy target to be forcibly killed.
If he moved to a different city-state, the probability of being suspected would be much lower, and a disguise would make him even safer.
“Hmm…” The Golfer looked troubled and spoke up with a request. “Could I trouble you all to help me? Please escort me to the edge of the desert.”
“…What do you two say?” Mo Shao paused, turning her head toward Katicia and Aris.
“It’s up to you,” Katicia said, shaking her head.
“Aris will listen to Sister Hui!” Aris said obediently.
“Hmm…” After a bit of thought, Mo Shao finally agreed. “It’s not far from the edge of the desert, so that’s fine.”
“I actually wanted to go see what the situation is further south of the desert anyway,” Mo Shao added as a sub-explanation.
“Thank you so very much!”
The Golfer thanked her earnestly and handed something over. “I found this underground. Consider it payment!”
“Eh?” Mo Shao froze for a moment, suddenly finding the situation a bit hard to handle.
If you had a reward, you should have said so earlier! If she had known there was a reward, she wouldn’t have hesitated at all! She wouldn’t have even needed to find an excuse!
The item the Golfer produced was a device that was mostly red with a light blue button.
Upon using Identification, Mo Shao discovered its name: [Artificial Camera Shutter], a gadget from Doraemon.
By wearing this on top of one’s head and pressing the button, the scene in the direction of the wearer’s gaze would be produced as a photograph.
What’s more, the photo would be spat out of the wearer’s mouth. It literally turned a person into someone with a camera growing out of their head.
“In that case, let’s take you a bit further,” Mo Shao promised after taking it. Did this count as accepting an escort mission?
This thing was indeed useful, as verbal descriptions were always much more troublesome than direct visual communication.
Even an Idea Camera had some margin of error, since there was always a difference between what the eyes saw and the images in one’s mind.
“However, you’ll have to wait while we explore here for a bit longer.” Mo Shao glanced at the time. It was only around 12:00 PM; it was still quite early.
“That’s fine. I actually need to collect some things myself.” After Mo Shao’s explanation, the Golfer seemed to have “woken up.”
Well, considering he didn’t mention the reward before making the request… he was probably still in quite an NPC-like state.
Regardless, progress was always a good thing.
In the following period, they successfully turned up several more Treasure Chests, finding quite a few good items inside.
[Thunder Zapper]: It could fire bouncing electric balls. She would need to study it later to see if it could be combined with the electric balls from the Lightning Staff.
If successful, she would be able to perform ricocheting attacks.
[Magic Conch]: It could teleport the user to the nearest beach. However, based on the previous potions, this teleportation logic followed the same rules.
It would likely teleport her to the Ocean Planet Phantom Realm.
But compared to the potions, the advantage of this item was that it wasn’t single-use; it could be used multiple times.
[Snake Charmer's Flute]: A functional item that could grow a rope 100 blocks high for climbing, lasting about 23 seconds.
…It might come in handy at some point.
[Ancient Chisel]: Increased mining speed by 25%. A simple and crude buff item; it would be useful for digging tunnels later.
[Dune Rider Boots]: Increased movement speed to 22.5 blocks per second when worn, which increased to 39.38 blocks per second on sand-based terrain.
Since 1 block in Terraria was equivalent to 2 feet in reality—roughly 60.96 centimeters, or 0.61 meters—the movement speed of the [Dune Rider Boots] was approximately 14 m/s on normal terrain and 24 m/s in the desert.
Compared to a normal human, this was an exceptionally fast movement speed. More importantly, wearing them didn’t consume any extra stamina.
It was an excellent item for traveling and acceleration.
“It’s three o’clock. Let’s go.” Mo Shao checked the time, stopped her exploration, and spoke to the others exploring nearby.
She intended to escort the Golfer alone. After all, it wasn’t a difficult task; Katicia and the others might as well keep searching for a bit longer.
…As for why she was leaving at three o’clock?
It got dark at six. It would take her an hour to escort the Golfer and then another two hours to return.
That was the downside of winter in Guangdong Province: the sun set too quickly, and the days were short, which cut into her development time.
If the Earth hadn’t expanded so much, Mo Shao would have even considered traveling to the poles so she could stay in perpetual daylight by moving back and forth!
…She would definitely have to adjust everyone’s schedule later. Sleep earlier and wake up earlier, otherwise they would lose too much time.
If the sun rose at 6 AM and they slept for 8 hours, they should go to bed at 10 PM. That would still leave 4 hours of free time before sleep.
Yes, a perfect plan!
Before heading out, Mo Shao performed another scan of the area above them… but this time, there were actually people nearby?
It made sense. It had been several days now; someone was bound to find their way here eventually.
Although they hadn’t found the exact spot yet, they weren’t far off. She would have to come earlier tomorrow.
Even though they had already opened most of the chests in the Underground Desert—one could never have too much of this stuff.
Even if she didn’t use them, she could still sell them! It was all money! Who knew, she might even be able to trade them for something better!
