To maximize her haul of valuables, Elvia adopted a strategy of picking things up from far to near.
She headed straight for a fancy wooden chest half-hidden in the bushes at the furthest point.
With a hard kick, she shattered the already rotted lid.
Her hands moved quickly as she scavenged through it, her mouth constantly offering disdainful critiques.
“Tsk, a broken gilded wine cup? Trash!”
“This silk is all moldy and rotten. I wouldn’t take it even if it were free!”
“Oh? This sapphire necklace is decent quality... too bad the chain is broken. It won’t be worth much.”
“What even is this? A dagger with a failed enchantment? Scrap metal!”
“Huh?! This box...”
She suddenly pulled out a small box wrapped in black velvet and opened it to look.
Inside lay a ring shimmering with a faint magical glow. Her eyes lit up instantly.
“A Ring of Soul Protection?! Good stuff! It’s mine!”
Without hesitation, she stuffed it into her bosom.
Lin Gui watched the two money-crazed figures, speechless.
While Theia was busy luring away all the demons, he pulled a few bottles of crude mana restoration potions from a wooden crate and gulped them down.
The bitter liquid slid down his throat, bringing a warm sensation of mana recovery with it.
He spread out the map again to check their progress.
They weren’t very far from the edge of the Whispering Forest now.
With his currently recovered mana, they should be able to charge out of the forest before it ran out and reach the boundary of the Withered Rift.
Once there, he would look for the scout outpost marked by the Adventurer’s Guild.
After completing the Special Commission, they could head straight for the Royal Capital.
At that moment, Elvia rushed back to the wooden raft with an armful of “loot.”
She dumped them all into a supply crate without a second glance before turning and dashing back out.
To carry more, she even took off her outer coat and used it like a bundle to wrap things up.
Just as Elvia’s eyes were gleaming as she aimed for the next glittering treasure, a series of heavy, heart-stopping footsteps suddenly echoed from the distance.
This was followed by the loud crashing of a large number of trees being violently snapped and falling over!
“Lin Gui! Bolt!!!”
Theia’s scream drew closer as she rapidly sprinted back.
Behind her, a dark demonic tide surged forward amidst clouds of dust!
Leading the charge was a figure as massive as a mountain, its muscles bulging as it wielded a giant axe burning with eerie green flames.
The curved horns atop its head radiated a suffocating pressure.
It was a terrifying High-tier Legendary Minotaur Demon!
With its eyes burning red and letting out a heaven-shaking roar, it was initiating a death charge!
Elvia felt her soul nearly leave her body, her voice cracking in terror.
“You filthy half-demon! How the hell did you lure a Legendary demon over here?!!”
Where was the time to pick through treasures now?
She threw the two items she had just picked up but hadn’t even looked at onto the ground.
She bolted for her life toward the raft, moving at a speed more than twice as fast as when she was scavanging for money!
Theia instantly zipped past her.
In her arms, she held a magnificently crafted silver-white Golden Runed Longbow.
She also clutched a few scattered gold coins and treasures.
With a miserable face, she shouted back.
“How was I supposed to know! I just saw it sleeping soundly and pilfered a few things from its side, that’s all!”
“I’ll fuck your mother!!!” Elvia roared as she ran.
“My mother’s been dead for ages! You can’t fuck her!!”
Theia retorted as she leaped lightly back onto the top of the wooden crate.
She quickly tossed the miscellaneous items in her arms aside.
Both hands gripped the Golden Runed Longbow she had just snatched, and she poured her Transcendent Rank battle force into it like a madwoman!
“Arrow Storm!”
She gave a sharp cry and drew the bow fully like a moon!
In an instant, countless emerald arrows made of pure energy materialized in thin air.
Like a swarm of enraged bees, they let out sharp shrieks as they blanketed the chasing demon tide!
Pfft! Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!
The Low Rank demons at the front were instantly turned into sieves.
They fell with wails, causing the demon tide’s momentum to stall for a moment!
However, this dense storm of arrows only produced a shower of sparks when it struck the leading High-tier Legendary Minotaur Demon.
It didn’t even scratch its skin; instead, it only served to infuriate it further!
It roared, its speed not slowing in the slightest.
Its massive hooves trampled the earth with thunderous booms as it charged forward in a frenzy!
“Get us the hell out of here!!!”
Elvia scrambled back onto the raft, her voice screeching.
Though sweat beaded on Lin Gui’s forehead, his hands remained steady.
He pushed both Levitation and the Shroud of the Gloomy Night to their absolute limits!
Just as the massive shadow of that Minotaur Demon loomed over them and the burning axe was about to fall, the entire raft and everyone on it vanished into thin air!
Boom!
Up in the sky, the massive sound of the impact echoed from below, followed by the Minotaur Demon’s angry and confused roars.
The three on the raft could clearly feel the vibrations in the air caused by that terrifying impact.
Theia, still clutching the longbow, let out a long sigh of relief. She patted her chest and said cheerfully,
“Luckily we have you, Lin Gui...”
Before she could finish, a still-shaken Elvia pounced on her.
She grabbed Theia by the collar and roared,
“You idiot!! Do you have any idea how much that magic ring on the skeleton’s finger was worth?! At least a hundred thousand gold coins!”
“That would have been enough to keep me living the high life in the Royal Capital for a week!!”
“It’s all your fault for being so handsy!! Now it’s great! None of us can get any of the treasures down there anymore!!!”
“I... I didn’t care about all that! This bow is definitely worth more than all those gold coins and treasures combined!” Theia argued back, though her eyes flickered guiltily for a moment.
Elvia was stunned.
She finally focused her gaze on the silver-and-gold longbow Theia was death-gripping in her arms.
She seemed to remember something as her face suddenly paled. She hissed and reached out to grab it herself.
“Give me that damn bow right now!! You filthy half-demon!”
Theia, thinking she wanted the high-quality bow for herself, hugged it even tighter and refused to let go, shouting,
“No way! I can give you all those other treasures, but not this bow!”
“I risked my life to get this! Besides, you’re a knight; you don’t even use bows. It’s better off with me!!”
“Bullshit! Do you even know what that is? Hand it over!”
Elvia’s eyes turned red with desperation as she threw herself into a scramble for it.
But how could she, a High-tier High Rank knight, win a struggle against a Low-tier Transcendent elf ranger with such nimble movements?
If they weren’t floating in the sky with such limited space on the raft, Theia would have kicked her off long ago.
Listening to the two women behind him fighting over a bow—complete with all sorts of shrieks, curses, and the sound of tearing fabric—Lin Gui, who was struggling to maintain the invisibility and flight of the raft, let out a heavy, weary sigh.
He really shouldn't have listened to these two girls and gone down to pick those things up.
