Lynn swung his gun-staff. Relying on his class-holder level Strength of over ten points, he forcefully smashed a skeleton's skull to pieces.
Strong Hand Skull Crusher!
Just as Lynn expected, once the skeleton's skull was smashed, its soul fire instantly went out, failing to turn into specks of light for the Psionic Corpse to absorb.
It worked!
Lynn quickly directed the other two, “Quick, smash these skeletons as much as you can! Extinguish their soul fires!”
Since the Psionic Corpse wanted to absorb the skeletons' soul fires, Lynn absolutely could not let it do so!
Whatever the enemy wanted, he would deny!
By now, the Monk understood what Lynn was trying to do. He quickly swung his iron staff, delivering heavy blows to the immobilized skeletons around him.
As for Lupa, although she didn't understand what was happening, she didn't hesitate since it was Lynn's instruction. She immediately followed suit.
With Strength and Constitution comparable to a class-holder, Lupa cleared the skeletons much faster than the Monk.
After all, the 【Wayfarer】 class the Monk had coalesced did not specialize in Strength.
Without a doubt, the fastest one on the field was still Lynn.
Although these skeletons were controlled by the Psionic Corpse, the Bloodline Points earned by killing them were the real deal. They wouldn't be discounted just because Lynn didn't have to put in much effort.
“Killed one skeleton. Gained Bloodline Point (Skeleton) * 1.”
“Killed one skeleton. Gained Bloodline Point (Skeleton) * 1.”
“Killed one skeleton soldier. Gained Bloodline Point (Skeleton) * 5.”
...
The skeletons remained frozen in place, completely helpless as Lynn harvested them at will.
Furthermore, because the Psionic Corpse was not Lynn's teammate, stealing kills from it carried no assist penalty! For Lynn, this was a pleasant surprise.
He had no idea if he would ever get another opportunity to acquire Bloodline Points so easily.
Thus, he had to seize this chance.
Lynn went all out, focusing his attacks on the skeletons' neck vertebrae and skulls.
In less than a minute, more than half of the nearly one hundred skeletons on the field were shattered by the trio.
During this time, the speed at which the Monk cleared skeletons also gradually increased.
On one hand, his skill in dealing with skeletons had grown more proficient.
On the other hand...
As he killed the skeletons, a white light gradually began to glow on the Monk's body. This white light seemed exceptionally effective against undead creatures like skeletons.
The white light coated his long staff, and the moment an undead creature brushed against it, they would immediately scorch as if they had touched scalding lava.
As the number of skeletons on the field dwindled, the speed at which the Psionic Corpse condensed its psionic fire also slowed down significantly.
However, the Psionic Corpse was powerless to stop this. It could only accelerate its absorption of the skeletons' psionic energy in an attempt to condense a second psionic fire as quickly as possible.
To avoid being surrounded and attacked by the skeletons, Lynn and the others also chose not to attack the Psionic Corpse for the time being.
Thus, both sides reached a tacit understanding, embarking on a joint slaughter of the skeletons on the field.
In the blink of an eye, of the nearly one hundred skeletons that had crawled out of the graveyard, only a dozen or so remained.
Lynn stopped his movements and sank his consciousness into his mind, opening the 《Monster Identification Manual》.
Facing a powerful enemy like the Psionic Corpse, every bit of improvement was crucial.
Monster encyclopedia, upgrade!
Two new pages of the encyclopedia appeared in his consciousness, representing the bloodline trees of the 【Zombie】 and 【Skeleton】 monsters.
First was the 【Zombie】.
【Do you wish to activate the "Zombie" bloodline? Consumes Bloodline Point (Zombie) * 3.】
Activate immediately.
【Zombie: Hardening Lv.1 (Passive), Pain Block Lv.1 (Optional Passive)】
For the current Lynn, a CR 1/2 monster provided very little attribute bonus. Only Hardening was somewhat useful, as it could enhance his physical defense.
Lynn did not pay much attention to it and looked directly at the newly appeared second bloodline tree—
Skeleton.
A weak monster, but one with decent growth potential.
【Do you wish to activate the "Skeleton" bloodline? Consumes Bloodline Point (Skeleton) * 2. Currently held Bloodline Points: 58.】
A whopping fifty-eight Bloodline Points—the exact harvest from Lynn's heavy blows against the skeletons just now.
He lit up the first tier immediately.
The second tier still had only one path.
【Do you wish to activate the "Skeleton Soldier" bloodline? Consumes Bloodline Point (Skeleton) * 10. Currently held Bloodline Points: 56.】
Investing ten Bloodline Points, the second tier was also lit up in a red glow.
He had 46 Bloodline Points remaining.
The third tier of bloodline unlocks was divided into three branches: 【Beast-Armored Skeleton】, 【Giant Skeleton】, and 【Dungeon Skeleton】.
Each path had a very long follow-up tree.
Lynn even suspected that if he fully upgraded 【Beast-Armored Skeleton】 to the end, the final bloodline might be a 【Bone Dragon】.
Since he hadn't unlocked the entries for these monsters yet, Lynn didn't know the specific attributes of the three branches.
He could only roughly judge the strength of the three bloodlines by the number of Bloodline Points required to activate them.
Among them, both 【Beast-Armored Skeleton】 and 【Giant Skeleton】 required 40 Bloodline Points, while 【Dungeon Skeleton】 required 45.
Since he didn't know their specific attributes, it was natural to prioritize lighting up the bloodline that required the most points.
He activated 【Dungeon Skeleton】 directly.
“Year 442 of the New Star Calendar. Lynn has activated the bloodline, unlocking a new entry in the monster encyclopedia: Dungeon Skeleton. Current unlocked entries: 18.”
“2 more entries required to unlock the next Rune reward.”
With the third-tier bloodline activated, his fifty-eight Bloodline Points were now almost completely spent.
However, the boost brought by unlocking three tiers of bloodlines in succession was undoubtedly massive.
The immense amount of Bloodline Points converted entirely into bloodline potential, surging into Lynn's body.
