“All right!” Cyril readily agreed. Immediately afterward, he began to chant under his breath, muttering gibberish that was completely incomprehensible.
In reality, this wasn't an incantation at all; the guy was just talking nonsense, all to give the impression that he was mysterious and incredibly formidable.
Accompanying this meaningless babble, the circle of paper figurines around Freya slowly floated up. One by one, they flew back onto Cyril and perched on his shoulders, seemingly whispering secrets into his ear.
As for Cyril's expression, it gradually shifted from his initial composure to sheer bewilderment. Pausing, he cleared his throat and said, “Uh... well, Miss Freya, your future... is truly remarkable.”
Freya tilted her head slightly. “In what way?”
Rather than stating the divination result immediately, Cyril asked first, “If my calculations are correct, your grades at school should be exceptionally good, right?”
Amy nodded eagerly. “Yes! Fufu is one of the very best in our entire grade!”
Yet Freya merely wore a helpless expression. “Uh... I... I suppose.”
Because through Mind Freya's Mind Reading, Cyril was currently completely winging it. He hadn't divined a single thing about Freya; it was an absolute, total blank.
One had to realize that even if someone was on the verge of death, something could still be divined. But this situation was definitely a first for Cyril—his divination ability had failed outright!
Cyril's first suspicion was whether Freya could be an extraordinary stronger than himself. But on second thought, that seemed virtually impossible. Freya was still a student, far too young, and she was in an enthusiast club like the 【Supernatural Research Society】, so the probability was negligible.
Then, most likely, Freya had something on her that interfered with his divination?
It was fairly normal for ancient noble families to possess potent, heirloom extraordinary items, wasn't it?
Regardless of the actual reason, in order to show off in front of so many people, Cyril certainly couldn't admit his divination had failed. Thus, he began to make things up as he went.
Cyril said, “Furthermore, Miss Freya, are you quite popular as well? Do you have many friends?”
Amy nodded again. “Yes, absolutely! After all, Fufu is so adorable, everyone loves her.”
Cyril proclaimed, “Then it all fits. In the near future, Miss Freya, you will meet a benefactor who will change your life. With her assistance, you will be admitted to an extraordinarily prestigious university—not even within the Kingdom of Tarapaca, but the finest institution in the Empire of the Sun Never Sets! Your future is boundless!”
Amy's eyes immediately widened, and she turned to Freya. “T-That's incredible!”
The other members of the club also looked on with admiration:
“The finest school in the Empire of the Sun Never Sets?”
“That's amazing!”
“Studying abroad? I'm so jealous.”
As for Freya, she did her best to keep a straight face and said, “I-Is that so?”
Meanwhile, Cyril was thinking, ‘Thank goodness I bluffed my way through!’
Right after that, an even more absurd revelation emerged: through Mind Freya's mind reading, she discovered that Cyril being here was truly nothing more than a pure coincidence.
Cyril was indeed a member of the Holy Blessing Society, and he was indeed not a good person, but he hadn't deliberately approached the members of this club. In coming here to give lectures, he harbored no sinister motives whatsoever; he genuinely just wanted to earn some pocket money.
As for why he had shown up here as a lecturer? It was entirely because David went around throwing money at everything.
This wasn't some homophonic insult; it was throwing money around in the literal sense. In his free time, David ran all over the place—taverns, construction sites, and even black markets. He bought drinks for people at taverns, treated everyone to meals at construction sites, and spent money buying intelligence in black markets.
He was just one step away from stopping people on the street and asking, “Are you an extraordinary?”
Thanks to David's relentless spending sprees, Cyril had bumped into him one day while drinking at a tavern. Seeing how loaded the kid was and having nothing to do recently, Cyril had come to earn some extra cash. The whole thing was that simple.
From Cyril's memories, Mind Freya learned that the Holy Blessing Society had been lying low the entire time, never having left Auxerre at all. However, Cyril didn't even know what specific business the cult was busy with; all he knew was his current order—to live normally like an ordinary person.
Freya stole a glance at David. The Holy Blessing Society could never have imagined that after concealing themselves so well, they would be exposed in such a bizarre, abstract manner, could they?
After the divination concluded, Cyril continued to play pretend with them for a while, sharing some extremely basic knowledge about the extraordinary world, fabricating a few thrilling past experiences of his, and casually demonstrating his extraordinary abilities with tricks like making the paper figurines perform.
Time flew by, and as evening drew near, Cyril took a final bite of the pastries provided by Andrew's family. Standing up, he said, “It's getting late, and I must be going. That will be all for the 【Supernatural Research Society】 today. We'll pick up the rest next week.”
After bidding farewell to everyone, Cyril left. Then, the very next second, David suddenly blurted out, “I... want to tail Mr. Cyril. Does anyone want to come along?”
At those words, everyone froze. Andrew was the first to ask, “David, what do you mean by that?”
David said, “I asked Cyril before if he had any channels to get potions, and he said no. But I keep feeling like he was lying to me—he definitely has one! So I was thinking, if we follow him, maybe we can find out what that channel is, get some potions from it, and truly become extraordinaries?”
Faced with David's suggestion, however, everyone present fell silent. Andrew was the first to shake his head. “Count me out. I don't think that's a good idea, and I don't have that much of an obsession with potions or becoming an extraordinary anyway.”
Amy pulled back her neck as well, saying, “Th-That sounds really dangerous. Maybe we shouldn't.”
In general, the members of the 【Supernatural Research Society】 were mostly like Lord Ye professing love for dragons—they were deeply intrigued by supernatural powers, but when it came to actually drinking a potion or putting it to the test, they chickened out. Not to mention that tailing Cyril, who was clearly a big shot, would definitely be dangerous!
Frowning, David swept his gaze across everyone before finally wearing an expression of disappointment. “Fine, then I'll go by myself!”
Yet right as he stepped outside, Freya hurried after him and said, “I'll come with you.”
