“The Wheel of Destiny holds a meeting at three in the afternoon on the first of every month. Remember to find a safe place by then and clear your schedule to attend. As for what we cover during the meetings... well, it’s nothing too formal. We mostly just chat, exchange intelligence, and help each other out by trading items and the like.”
“Naturally, Miss Destiny will also attend these monthly meetings. She might issue certain missions for us to complete.”
“Aside from that, if you make an appointment with someone—just like we did today—you can also come in here to talk outside of meeting times. In short, convened under 【Miss Destiny】, the Wheel of Destiny is an extraordinary organization dedicated to mutual benefit and cooperation.”
David and Victor nodded. David asked, “Then... there are only eight chairs around this long table. Where does Miss Destiny sit?”
War Freya said, “She obviously wouldn’t sit with the likes of us.”
As she spoke, she raised a hand and pointed toward the head of the long table. A spiraling staircase rose from the floor, leading up to what resembled an elevated viewing platform. However, both the stairs and the platform were currently shrouded in thick white mist, making it impossible to discern their exact appearance.
War Freya said, “Miss Destiny sits up there during the monthly meetings.”
David remarked instinctively, “Why does it feel... kind of like a theater box?”
Victor replied, “What of it? To demigods, aren’t they the chess players while we’re the pawns? Audience and actors—it’s the exact same idea.”
Hearing this, David couldn’t help glancing at the staircase every now and then, looking intensely curious. Seeing this, War Freya said, “Curious? You can go take a look if you want. It’s totally fine.”
David blinked, surprised. “Really?”
With that, he took a tentative step toward the staircase. But just as he was about to reach the stairs, he felt as if he had collided with an invisible wall. It didn’t hurt—he was inside a dream, after all—yet he found himself unable to take even half a step forward.
David blurted out, “What is this?”
War Freya laughed. “Haha! That’s where our boss sits, after all. Did you really think you could just walk up there whenever you felt like it?”
In truth, the high platform didn’t exist at all, so of course David couldn’t reach it. The platform was merely a projection screen designed by Euphy; when the meeting actually took place, Freya would operate it remotely.
War Freya continued, “As for the other members of the Wheel of Destiny, I won’t bother introducing them now. You can get to know them yourselves during the next monthly meeting.”
“Alright, alright. That’s about all there is to introduce. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave first. I have other business to take care of.”
Victor said, “Nothing else from us. Thank you so much for your help, Miss Nicadori.”
Having successfully tricked the two into coming along for the ride, Freya began pondering whether she should recruit a few more people.
Currently, the Wheel of Destiny had eight member seats, but in reality, there were only four distinct individuals. Still, on second thought, she decided she shouldn’t rush. It would be bad if she ended up recruiting someone with questionable character.
...
Time slipped by, and another two days passed. Freya’s main body continued attending school and slacking off as usual. Meanwhile, in the kingdom’s capital, the archbishops of the Church of the Earth had finally gathered in one place. There were thirty-seven of them in total, which meant there were thirty-seven churches of the Church of the Earth across the entire Kingdom of Tarapaca.
That was actually a substantial number. It was questionable whether the Kingdom of Tarapaca even had thirty-seven cities in total, and many of these churches had been erected in small towns or even humble villages.
Of course, with Life Freya present, there were thirty-eight attendees in all. The moment the other archbishops laid eyes on Life Freya, they clustered around her, looking at her in awe. “I can feel it... She bears the aura of the Mother Goddess.”
“Such a rich aura of life!”
“What an adorable Saintess!”
Of the thirty-seven archbishops, the vast majority were Rank Four. Excluding Life Freya, only two were Rank Five extraordinaries: one was on the Path of Life just like her, while the other walked the 【Path of the Giant】.
Curiously enough, the one walking the Path of Life was male, while the one on the Path of the Giant was female.
Could anyone imagine how terrifying it was when a woman over two and a half meters tall with an immensely bountiful bust walked over to give Life Freya a hug? Life Freya felt as though she were about to be smothered to death.
Just as the archbishops were chatting around the topic of Life Freya, a crisp set of footsteps rang out. Followed by Trig and Stefan, Law Freya arrived. Sweeping her gaze over everyone present, Law Freya spoke in an even tone, “Everyone, thank you for waiting. Let us now discuss the formal terms of our cooperation in detail.”
Even as she spoke, the thought crossed her mind that if someone were to launch a surprise attack right now and wipe everyone here out, the Kingdom of Tarapaca would probably crumble on the spot.
Then again, Trig the behemoth was standing right here. If someone actually possessed the ability to pull that off, props to them—they could have the Kingdom of Tarapaca for all she cared.
Time slipped past, and the meeting proceeded exceptionally smoothly. After all, the vast majority of these Church of the Earth archbishops were ordinary folks who had received little formal education. They weren’t politically savvy; rather, they were fundamentally good-hearted people who felt fulfilled just by being able to help those in need.
Because of this, an utterly absurd scene unfolded during the meeting where they actively conceded benefits. One archbishop even went so far as to say, “Your Majesty, the fact that you trust us and are willing to grant us this opportunity to help more people already brings us immense joy. How could we possibly ask for anything more?”
Trig stood with his arms crossed, remaining silent. Law Freya had long known the character of these people, so she wasn’t surprised in the least. Only Prince Stefan wore a look of utter disbelief upon hearing their words.
The feeling he got right now was as if he were recruiting workers for a factory, only for the applicants to not only refuse wages, but offer to pay out of their own pockets to work!
‘Just being allowed to work for you already makes us happy, how could we possibly ask for more?’
Stefan couldn’t understand it. He was thoroughly dumbfounded.
What was even more absurd was that Law Freya didn’t accept their enticing concessions. Instead, she took a firm stance and said, “You must still accept the necessary benefits. If you trust me, then haggle no further and simply sign the contract.”
