The players were somewhat bewildered, and they subconsciously spoke up:
“Why did they leave?”
“No idea...”
“Wait, we can speak now?”
“Hiss, we actually can!”
Unlike the players, Lilith, Schutard, and the other believers immediately understood the Goddess's intention.
“Her Crownness moved the battlefield on purpose, fearing that the aftershocks would harm the city and her believers...” Schutard sighed softly, his voice filled with reverence.
Lilith nodded gently and gripped her staff tightly. “We must not let Her Crownness's painstaking efforts go to waste. Defending the city is the greatest help we can offer her.”
Meanwhile, among the troll army outside the city.
They were all stunned, not knowing what to do next.
Savagebone walked quickly to Kasal's side, a trace of uncertainty in his voice. “Lord Kasal... Should we wait for the divine envoy?”
Kasal did not answer immediately.
He fell silent for a few breaths, his gaze sweeping rapidly across the distant city wall as if calculating something. Then, his voice fell coldly:
“Wait? Wait for what? Do you think the descent of the divine envoy comes without a price?”
Savagebone froze.
“The descent of a Demigod-level entity consumes Father God's divine power with every passing moment. The divine envoy cannot stay here forever.”
Kasal's tone was steady but carried an unquestionable urgency.
“Furthermore, that fake god's divine power comes from her believers. As long as we wipe out the believers in the city, the fake god will surely suffer a heavy blow, allowing the divine envoy to end the battle even faster. The longer we drag this out, the more disadvantageous it is for him.”
Hearing this, Savagebone also immediately understood the stakes involved. This was crucial to their ultimate victory.
“Yes, Lord Kasal!”
He then turned to the nearby troll guards and ordered, “Pass down the command: siege the city immediately! All forces, advance!”
...
Soon, accompanied by the long, deep sound of the horn, the footsteps that had paused due to the battle of the gods began to advance once more.
Upon hearing the horn, the trolls' footsteps were scattered at first, but they quickly grew more orderly and rapid, eventually turning into a charge like a torrential flood.
All three thousand troops pressed forward!
A dense, dark mass of figures filled the view. Because the trolls had built siege engines this time, the atmosphere of war was far more intense than during the first siege.
On the city wall, the players' expressions grew excited.
“Holy crap! Now this is a war!”
“This epic scale! Combat feels so good!”
Seeing the enemy army drawing closer, Nan Cheng's gaze turned serious.
“Everyone, get ready!”
Meanwhile, within the troll army.
The constructed siege engines were slowly carried out by the trolls. Highly experienced, the siege engines they had built might not be top-tier, but they were more than adequate.
More than ten catapults were positioned at the rear of the troll army, operated by groups of three trolls each.
At the very front, trolls carrying heavy scaling ladders advanced at a steady pace.
“Unleash your skills!”
Seeing that the trolls had entered attack range, Nan Cheng immediately bellowed.
Instantly, countless colorful magic skills and magical arrows rained down from the players' wall in a blotting torrent.
The trolls were well-prepared. Under Kasal's command, the troll Shamans at the rear quickly deployed a divine spell barrier. A massive yellow barrier instantly spread over the army, blocking the vast majority of the attacks.
At the same time, the catapults at the rear went into action, hurling countless massive stones toward the city wall.
“Holy shit?!”
“Take cover, quick!”
The massive stones hurtled toward the wall with a howling wind. The players standing on the battlements paled and scrambled to dodge.
However, many players on the wall who failed to dodge in time were struck by the falling stones, dying on the spot.
Lacking defensive magic, the struck sections of the wall began to crack, exposing the inner wooden structures.
Schutard's expression was grave. Chanting silently, he raised his hand and unleashed several divine spells, blocking many of the falling boulders.
Yet, many stones still crashed onto the wall.
Deafening crashes echoed in everyone's ears.
War was brutal. Previously, just casting spells from the wall had filled the players with excitement and ambition. But when they truly faced a large-scale battle like this, the overwhelming atmosphere of war and the omnipresent stench of blood set in.
Still, to the players, it was ultimately just a game. Most combat-loving players only felt thrilled, while only a small number of casual players felt psychologically uncomfortable.
Sensing the sudden decrease in attacks from the wall, Savagebone looked delighted. “Quick! They're being suppressed! Advance now!”
Lilith was not idle on the wall either, continuously using her magic to blast the falling stones.
Seeing how fierce the enemy's catapults were, the players immediately shifted their focus. The catapults on the city wall adjusted their angles, launching stones back at the troll catapults in the rear.
Some players even infused the stones with fire magic. As the stones fell from the sky, they turned into blazing fireballs.
The troll catapult unit at the rear immediately took a heavy beating.
Kasal narrowed his eyes and chanted. Instantly, dozens of golden spears materialized in midair. His power at the Purple Gold Rank peak erupted violently, aiming directly at the catapults on the city wall.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The golden spears shot forward at high speed.
“Oh no!” Schutard instantly realized the enemy's intention and tried to cast a divine spell to intercept the attack.
However, the golden spears were incredibly fast. Despite his best efforts, many still struck the catapults on the wall.
Along with the catapults, the players nearby were blown to pieces.
Meanwhile, the troll and kobold forces below had already rushed to the base of the wall.
Scaling ladders were quickly set up.
At such close range, the divine spell barrier was no longer effective.
Nan Cheng's voice rang out through the chaos: “Ranged units, keep up the suppression! Don't let them climb up!”
Instantly, countless magic skills poured down from the wall, slamming relentlessly into the enemy forces below.
Fireballs exploded in the crowd, ice spikes pierced through troll bodies, and arrows rained down. Screams, roars, and the sound of breaking bones blended together, forming a horrific symphony below the wall.
Drenched in blood, Savagebone stood at the top of a scaling ladder. Watching the trolls around him fall one after another, he stepped onto the battlement—
“Charge—!!”
He was the first to vault onto the city wall! His battleaxe swept across, instantly sending two Knight players blocking his path flying!
“Those who stand in my way—die!”
Seeing this, the surrounding trolls and kobolds received a massive boost in morale and climbed up the scaling ladders one after another.
More and more enemies flooded the top of the wall, and the melee battle officially began.
Seeing this, the players grew a bit flustered.
However, under Nan Cheng's command, the ranged players retreated in an orderly fashion, while the tank players holding greatshields and the Knight players with longswords stepped forward to hold the line.
The two sides clashed, and the sound of clashing metal echoed everywhere.
Priest players began casting shields from the rear, and colorful lights instantly enveloped the Knight and tank players.
For a time, screams, heavy panting, clashing weapons, magical explosions, and the whistling of magic arrows rose and fell in quick succession!
In the chaotic battlefield, Assassin players also began their signature assassinations.
“Shadow Blade!”
Silent Rain hid in the shadows. His figure was elusive as he silently slipped behind the enemy's flank.
A cold flash gleamed. His long blade instantly decapitated a climbing kobold, sending blood spraying.
Before the nearby troll could react, his figure flashed forward. With a horizontal slash, he cut the troll warrior clean in half.
Blood dripped from his blade, cold and sharp.
Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at his teammates, who were coordinating with seamless offense and defense. He gave a slight nod, not pausing for even a second.
With a shift of his body, he melted back into the shadows of the city wall, continuing his silent slaughter and harvesting every enemy that showed their head.
