The man was startled, realizing the woman had awakened.
Before he could react, an intense, savage blow landed straight between his legs.
The force was so devastating it threatened to obliterate every shred of his earlier excitement.
Agony surged like a tidal wave straight to his throat.
Yet before he could let out a scream, Ye Li had already made her move.
She whipped the bedsheet—twisted into a tight rope earlier—around his neck in swift coils, pulling hard to choke back every sound in his throat.
At the same time, seizing the split second he doubled over in pain, Ye Li drove her knee into his chest, knocking him violently off the bed. Following through with her momentum, she pinned him face down onto the floor beneath her own body weight.
She quickly looped the sheet twice around her arm and yanked it taut.
The other end had already been tied securely to the drain pipe beside the toilet, allowing her to pull it taut even with just one hand.
Strangled by the neck and pinned flat, compounded by the crushing agony between his legs, he was completely sapped of strength. For the moment, he had no way of breaking free from Ye Li's hold, reduced to kicking his legs in futile struggle.
Ye Li wasn't having an easy time either. The flurry of motions had inevitably jostled her wounded right arm; the blinding pain drained the color from her face, breaking her out in a cold sweat as stars swam across her vision.
Yet she gritted her teeth, refusing to loosen her grip by even a fraction.
The commotion inside naturally caught the attention of the short man keeping lookout outside. He poked his head in at once to see what was happening.
The light inside the cell was far too dim. He could only make out two bodies tangled together on the floor in an “intimate” embrace, unable to discern what was actually going on.
Sensing nothing amiss, the short man blinked his slanted eyes, his face splitting into a teasing grin.
Hehehe, things sure were intense in there! They'd already rolled from the bed all the way down to the floor!
After a quick look, he hurriedly turned his back, not wanting to disturb his bro's fun.
Seconds ticked by, and the tall man's struggles gradually ceased.
Ye Li still didn't let up. She held on for a little longer until she was certain the man beneath her was completely dead, only then releasing the sheet.
She lay there panting, taking a moment to recover her strength before continuing.
With the more threatening tall man out of the way, the short runt outside wouldn't be an issue at all.
Out in the hallway, hearing the commotion inside subside, the short man couldn't help but grow nervous and excited.
He wiped his sweaty hands vigorously on his pants, trying his best to look composed so no one would see his eager expression and laugh at him.
In all his years, he had barely touched a woman.
Before the apocalypse, he had no money, no talent, and poor looks. Women never spared him a second glance, leaving him a bachelor into his mid-thirties.
After the apocalypse, he could barely scrounge up a bite to eat, possessing neither the energy nor the resources to chase women.
Who could have guessed that dumb luck would strike him now? He had landed such an incredible gig where he not only got fed, but also got to have some fun!
At the thought of soon tasting that heavenly bliss, how could he not be thrilled...
Just as the short man was lost in his wild fantasies, someone tapped his shoulder.
Assuming it was the tall man coming out after finishing the deed, he turned around without a guard up.
Before he could even get a clear look at who it was, two slender, rigid fingers lunged straight for his eyes.
The strike came too suddenly and from too close a range; the short man couldn't dodge in time.
A burst of crimson exploded in his vision as agonizing pain tore through him...
He let out a bloodcurdling scream, clutching his face with both hands as warm fluid gushed through his fingers.
Ye Li wasn't finished after gouging his eyes.
She followed up with punches to his gut and kicks to his groin... until she had beaten him completely flat onto the floor.
Only then did Ye Li shake out her hand, exhale a breath, and stagger back into the cell. She picked up the bowl of porridge by the door—so watery her reflection showed clearly in it—downed it in a single gulp, wolfed down the dry bean cake in a few bites, and then walked over to the tall man's corpse to strip off his leather belt.
When Ye Li walked back out of the cell, the short man was still curled on the floor in agony, groaning endlessly.
Stepping forward, she looped the leather belt into a collar around his neck, cinched it tight, and dragged him along behind her, completely indifferent to whether he lived or died.
Along the way, the people locked in the shadowy cells witnessed the scene, the numbness and apathy on their faces instantly replaced by excitement and desperate longing.
“Save me...”
“Let me out...”
“Please, help me...”
“Save me, please...”
“...”
Like people dying of thirst seeing water, they threw themselves against the barred doors, thrusting their arms through the gaps and waving frantically. They shouted and wailed, pleading for the woman outside to show mercy and pull them from this living hell.
Yet Ye Li was utterly blind to those pleading gazes.
Casually chewing the dry bean cake, she dragged the man with unsteady steps down the long corridor until she reached the elevator doors.
Mounted above the elevator was a surveillance camera monitoring everything in the corridor.
Ye Li brazenly put her violent actions on full display right under the camera's lens.
Her reason for doing so was simple: to demonstrate and prove her strength and value.
Because in this world, only those who had value deserved to live.
Sure enough, a shrill alarm soon began to blare.
On the display beside the elevator, the floor numbers began descending rapidly...
Ding!
The elevator doors parted with a chime, and a squad of heavily armed Security Guard personnel poured out.
The last to emerge was a tall, young woman clad in sleek black combat gear.
She was strikingly beautiful, her ink-black hair meticulously brushed and tied into a sharp ponytail. With a stern expression and chilling gaze, an undeniable aura of pressure radiated from her, instantly marking her as someone not to be crossed.
With a single gesture from her, one group of guards immediately stepped forward and encircled Ye Li, while another group headed straight down the corridor.
Ye Li had no intention of resisting.
Tossing aside the belt, she raised her only hand and placed it behind her head in complete surrender.
The woman's gaze swept over her dispassionately before landing on the half-dead short man on the floor, deep disgust flickering in her cold eyes.
Soon, the other squad of guards returned, dragging the tall man's corpse.
“Captain Gao, there's another one here. He's dead.”
The woman addressed as “Captain Gao” showed no change in expression. She merely waved a hand in Ye Li's direction. “Take her away first!”
“Yes, ma'am!”
Several guards stepped forward to shove Ye Li. “Move.”
“Don't push. I can walk on my own,” Ye Li grumbled in annoyance, stepping into the elevator in full cooperation.
“Captain Gao, what should we do with this one?” a guard stepped forward to ask.
Why these two had shown up here at this hour was something everyone knew full well.
This sort of “fun” was hardly uncommon.
The Mutants locked away on the bottom floor were merely a bunch of insignificant test subjects; no one cared about their lives.
So while everyone saw it, no one could be bothered to intervene.
No one expected the two would hit a steel wall tonight—failing to have their fun and ending up with one dead and one crippled instead, which was truly a surprise.
Captain Gao looked down at the man groaning pitifully on the floor, her face filled with scorn.
“Useless trash,” she muttered coldly, pointing a hand at him.
Her fair skin suddenly began to shift, morphing in an instant into a gleaming silver spike of metal.
The next second, the metal spike abruptly lengthened. With a sickening squelch, it punched straight through the man's skull, ruthlessly snuffing out the last ember of his life...
Trash didn't deserve to live!
