“Great Fireball!”
“Great Fireball!”
Two Great Fireballs flew out one after the other, striking the Pangolin Earth Dragon.
Boom! Boom!
“Roar!”
Following two massive explosions, the Pangolin Earth Dragon let out a painful howl.
Suddenly attacked, the Pangolin Earth Dragon glared furiously at the two people who had hit it.
Immediately after, it scrambled onto all fours and charged madly toward them.
“Scatter!”
As she spoke, a faint white light glowed on Shulim's feet, and she pulled away from Alicia with incredible speed.
While moving, she aimed her wand at the charging Pangolin Earth Dragon.
“Great Fireball!”
Boom!
Another Great Fireball struck the earth dragon's relatively weak underbelly. The Pangolin Earth Dragon, which had been hesitating on whom to pursue after the two split up, immediately locked its crimson eyes onto Shulim.
“Roar!”
The earth dragon roared and charged forward.
“Searing Shroud!”
A shroud of fire suddenly erupted from the ground, completely filling their field of vision with flames.
Dominated by fury, the Pangolin Earth Dragon charged forward heedlessly anyway, quickly crashing through the shroud of fire and passing right through.
But there was no sign of Shulim behind the wall of flames.
Just as it was about to look around for her...
“Hey, where are you looking? Look up in the sky!”
The earth dragon raised its head.
Only to be greeted by a Storm Spear.
Boom!
“Roar!!!”
The Storm Spear struck the earth dragon squarely in the face, causing it to scream in agony once more.
“I told you to look at the sky, and you actually looked.”
Mico said mockingly.
“Snort!”
Two powerful blasts of breath snorted from the Pangolin Earth Dragon's nostrils as it glared at Mico with intense killing intent.
It stopped in place, raising its thick tail high before slamming it down hard.
Thud!
The ground instantly shattered.
Then, sweeping its tail across the ground, it gathered a massive amount of stone debris.
“Mico, dodge quickly! Great Fireball—!”
“Great Fireball!”
Realizing things were going south, Shulim and Alicia immediately launched their attacks at the earth dragon.
Swoosh!
But before the Great Fireballs could hit, the debris swept up by the earth dragon's tail had already been hurled forward.
“Kyaah!”
Although Mico was already trying to escape, her speed was nowhere near that of the flying stones. She was hit and fell from the sky.
“Searing Shroud!”
The rising flames enveloped the Pangolin Earth Dragon once more.
“Mico, are you okay?”
Alicia, who was closer, immediately rushed over to check on her.
“I-I'm fine.”
Mico scrambled up from the ground. Fortunately, she had kept Reinforce active the entire time, so she didn't suffer any severe injuries.
Clack, clack, clack...
Just then, a familiar sound echoed from inside the shroud of fire.
“This sound...”
Alicia and Mico stared blankly at the wall of fire.
“No way, again?”
Rumble! Rumble! Rumble...
Right as the words left her mouth, a massive wheel hurtled out of the fiery shroud at high speed, pulverizing the ground as it rapidly closed in on them.
Seeing the Pangolin Earth Dragon curl up again, holding its tail to transform itself into that shape, Mico and Alicia panicked and immediately took off.
The Pangolin Earth Dragon's back was covered in hard spikes. In this form, those spikes became a terrifying weapon that could easily crush solid rock, leaving no doubt about what would happen to a human if they got hit.
...
Watching the two of them flee for their lives under pursuit, Shulim couldn't help but sigh.
“Our compatibility with this guy is really bad. We should have gone to the Echo Labyrinth...”
“Forget it, let's just finish it off quickly. We can leave team practice for another time...”
In the next instant, Shulim raised her wand once more, and her entire aura underwent a subtle shift.
“Fire Thorn!”
“Fire Thorn!”
“Fire Thorn!”
...
Her mana drained rapidly in a short span of time like flowing water.
Meanwhile...
“Waaah! Shulim, save us!”
“It really is too early for us! This Dungeon Boss is way too strong!”
Seeing that the Pangolin Earth Dragon was about to catch up to them, both Mico and Alicia panicked.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a massive amount of fire thorns sprouted behind them.
Those fire thorns seemed to come alive, weaving into nets that blocked the path of the Pangolin Earth Dragon.
Boom! Boom! Boom...
After smashing through several fire nets in a row, the high-speed rolling wheel inevitably began to slow down.
However, those fire thorns seemed endless, continuously springing up.
Eventually, the rolling wheel ground to a complete halt.
Sensing that something was wrong, the Pangolin Earth Dragon immediately tried to uncurl from its defensive stance, but the fire thorns seized the opportunity to wrap around it and bind it tight.
“Is this...”
Mico and Alicia stopped as well, looking at each other in astonishment.
“Shulim saved us!”
Mico said, feeling a wave of relief after surviving the ordeal.
However, Alicia was thinking deeper.
“This kind of speed? Could it be Chantless Casting...”
“Roar! Roar!”
Bound by the massive tangle of fire thorns, the Pangolin Earth Dragon roared repeatedly. Its violent struggles broke some of the thorns but also inflicted even more fire damage upon it.
“Mico, Alicia, now! Attack it with everything you've got!”
“Okay!”
Mico immediately began chanting her spell.
Alicia followed right behind.
“Storm Spear!”
“Great Fireball!”
The two spells hit the Pangolin Earth Dragon one after another.
“Roar!!!”
The Pangolin Earth Dragon shrieked even louder in agony.
But bound as it was, it could only serve as a sitting duck now.
Just as the two were preparing another round of spells, massive fireballs slammed into the Pangolin Earth Dragon one after another.
...
...
A few minutes later...
The Pangolin Earth Dragon was thoroughly roasted. For a Dungeon Boss, being taken down like this was truly an embarrassing way to go...
Clang!
Shulim severed a sharp horn from the Pangolin Earth Dragon's forehead, which fell to the ground with a crisp clang.
Mico stared at Shulim curiously.
“Shulim, what are you doing?”
Clang!
Another sharp horn was sliced off.
“Do you mean these horns? They're used as proof for the Adventurers' Guild. If we submit them, we can get directly certified as C-Class adventurers.”
“Huh, really?!”
“Yes. A staff member at the Langard branch told me about it before. As long as you submit proof from any of the Dungeon Bosses of the five dungeons, you don't need to take the rank-up exam to be directly certified as C-Class. Of course, that's assuming you've completed the required number of D-Class quests.”
Having said that, Shulim hopped down from the earth dragon's head and looked at Mico.
“Mico, you've registered as an adventurer too, right? Take this horn to submit. It'll save you a lot of trouble.”
“Sure! I'll take this one then!”
Mico picked up the sharp horn and stuffed it into her backpack.
Alicia, not being an adventurer herself, was a bit confused by their actions.
“Shulim, why would you prefer this method instead of just taking the C-Class exam?”
After all, the strength of these Dungeon Bosses was typically beyond what an average C-Class adventurer team could handle. Choosing to deal with such a powerful foe instead of taking what should have been an easier exam seemed strange no matter how she looked at it.
