Ye Fan's eyes nearly split open with rage.
Yang Yiyi had only screamed three times, yet Xie Litang had actually dared to kill three of his family members.
“You bitch.”
“You fucking whore, I'm going to kill you!”
Ye Fan roared at the camera.
Xie Litang knit her brows, her expression turning ice-cold for a moment.
She cracked her knuckles, clenched her fist, and said, “President Ye, you seem to have forgotten one thing. I'm the one holding all the cards right now.”
“Besides, you just insulted me twice, didn't you?”
“You really just cursed at me, didn't you?”
“Hehe, hehehehe...”
Xie Litang laughed.
It was a laugh so chilling it sent a shiver down everyone's spine.
Stepping toward Old Lady Ye, her fist accidentally brushed against the elderly woman.
Bang.
Old Lady Ye's body suddenly blew apart.
Xie Litang let out a startled cry, jumped back, and said with a look of mock regret, “President Ye, your mom just blew up.”
On the projection, Ye Fan's face instantly flushed crimson, his bloodshot eyes looking ready to murder someone.
Xie Litang then casually touched Ye Fan's second brother, producing another squishy, splatting sound.
“Oops.”
“President Ye, why did your brother blow up too?”
Ye Fan stared fixedly at the screen, clutching his hair in sheer madness as he roared, “Ah! Ahhh! AHHHH!”
He wanted to curse at her.
But he didn't dare let a single insult out, deathly afraid another family member would blow up.
Ye Fan heaved a heavy breath, white vapors practically puffing from his nostrils as he suppressed his rage and growled, “What on earth do you want?!”
Xie Litang spread her hands. “What do I want? Don't tell me you still don't know, President Ye?”
“Bring her here.”
“If she loses a single hair...”
“...I'll ruin one of your family members.”
“Remember to keep the video call on the whole time. I'll be watching.”
Ye Fan clenched his fists tight. “According to martial code, target the man, not his family! Do you have no honor?!”
Xie Litang rolled her eyes. “I'm targeting your family—so what? If you've got the guts, come target me.”
Ye Fan gnashed his teeth in fury. After a long moment, he gritted out, “Fine. I'll bring her over right away.”
Xie Litang walked over and sat by the tea table.
She gave a casual wave of her hand.
The remaining Ye Family members immediately huddled together in the corner.
She then took a canister of tea leaves and began brewing. She gestured for Old Man Ye to sit across from her.
Scalding water rinsed the tea lid, steeping the leaves, washing the tea, and pouring it—every movement was smooth, fluid, and effortless.
Old Man Ye narrowed his eyes slightly, took a cup of tea, and took a small sip.
The tea tasted just right.
Yet Old Man Ye's heart sank even deeper.
“Ancient tea ceremony.”
“Which prestigious family's daughter are you?”
Xie Litang paused for a moment. Ancient tea brewing?
Before she transmigrated, her skills were rudimentary at best—so amateurish she'd be embarrassed to serve guests.
She hadn't expected...
...she would actually be mistaken for a young lady from a prestigious family.
But after thinking it through, it wasn't surprising. In this era of New Citadels, only the so-called elite, prominent families still idolized these traditional practices—and the older the tradition, the better.
Ordinary people were lucky to have pure natural tea bags; who had the spare time to study this stuff?
Xie Litang chuckled softly. “Old Man Ye, you might have misunderstood something.”
Neither of them spoke further.
They continued sipping their tea in quiet.
At some unknown moment, a red dot suddenly settled right onto Xie Litang's forehead.
Old Man Ye remained expressionless, though relief flickered deep within his eyes.
Xie Litang let out a sigh and took a sip of tea. “I just want to save someone. Wouldn't it be better if we kept things quiet and peaceful?”
Crash!
The villa's floor-to-ceiling glass window shattered instantly.
A specially made high-explosive armor-piercing sniper round hurtled straight toward Xie Litang's forehead.
Immediately following it were a second, a third, and a fourth. The concealed crimson flames around Xie Litang erupted violently—she had kept her Blood Escape Technique active continuously ever since entering the building.
She swung her sword.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The sniper's angle was too tricky; Xie Litang managed to shatter only two of the sniper rounds.
The other two struck her shoulder and her midsection. Even her Crane Whisper Battle Armor struggled to withstand these specially crafted sniper rounds.
Two holes blew open in her battle armor.
A patch of snow-white skin was instantly exposed.
However, the damaged nanometer-grade self-repairing lining underneath quickly began repairing itself.
Xie Litang brushed off the two targeted spots. With her defense now exceeding eighty thousand, firearms and projectile weapons were gradually becoming useless against her.
“That's why...”
“...I really hate firearms sometimes. One mistake and I end up accidentally exposed. Good thing I bought a self-repairing lining back then.”
Although the lining was styled like a bodysuit—making going to the bathroom feel like stripping naked—as long as it worked, that was all that mattered.
Xie Litang's completely unbothered demeanor sent a chill straight through Old Man Ye's heart instead.
After failing the strike, the sniper...
...didn't dare attack again.
But that didn't mean Xie Litang wasn't furious. She held up two fingers toward the camera and said, “President Ye, you're not being honest. Two bullets, huh?”
Xie Litang walked toward the Ye Family members huddled in the corner, causing them to shriek in terror.
They wanted to run, but didn't dare.
If they didn't run, it felt like they were going to die anyway.
“You, and you.”
“Step out.”
The two were none other than Ye Fan's wife and nephew. They collapsed onto the floor in sheer horror.
Swish, swish! Two slashes swept out.
Xie Litang stayed her hand, turned to the camera, and said, “President Ye, so sorry about that. Your wife and nephew just blew up too. I really think there's a problem with your family's feng shui.”
Ye Fan, enraged upon being enraged, screamed hysterically, “Ah! AHHHH! AHHH!”
Xie Litang covered her ears and said with disgust, “Enough, stop barking like a dog. I offered you my sincerity in exchange for yours, but all I got in return were two deadly bullets.”
“I've lost my patience. Starting now, I'm giving you five minutes.”
“For every minute you're late...”
“...another member of your family blows up.”
Xie Litang pointed at the corner, then at the tea table. “The next one... maybe it'll be them, or maybe your old man blows up next. Who knows?”
“Of course, you don't have to believe me.”
“However, feel free to give it a try.”
Is she a devil?!
This woman didn't reason with anyone at all.
Threatening her? That was even more out of the question.
Ye Fan grit his teeth over and over, but ultimately swallowed his rage, took Yang Yiyi, and boarded a flying car to rush home.
Xie Litang twitched the corner of her lips, a smile emerging. “Are you finally coming?”
She angled the camera away and suddenly turned her gaze to Old Man Ye.
The old man, who had maintained a dignified and composed demeanor, felt a chill freeze his heart under her gaze.
“Young friend?”
Xie Litang let out a soft laugh. “Old sir, there's no need to be nervous. I meant no ill intent to begin with; it was all just a misunderstanding.”
“If your son hadn't kidnapped my friend, I wouldn't have had to make things look so ugly, right?”
Listen to those words—is that something a human being would say?!
His wife blew up, his daughter-in-law, his son, his grandson—they ALL blew up, and you're fucking telling me you had 'no ill intent'?!
Old Man Ye took a sip of tea and said, “Since it's a misunderstanding, it's good as long as it's cleared up.”
He assumed Xie Litang was softening her stance and looking for an exit strategy.
Xie Litang rested her chin in her hands, her smile radiant. “So, Old Man Ye, are you willing to make friends with me and become my teammate?”
Old Man Ye froze. “What do you mean?”
“Do you want to be my teammate?”
“I'm not sure what you mean, young friend.”
Xie Litang stroked her long sword and sighed. “It seems you don't want to make friends with me, Old Man Ye.”
Old Man Ye's heart leaped in panic, and he hurriedly backtracked, “Since you invite me so warmly, young friend, I, Ye, am more than willing to accept you as a friend! Of course I want to be your teammate!”
Xie Litang turned her eyes toward the corner.
“What about you all?”
Moments later...
“We're willing!”
“I'm willing too!”
“To become Miss Xie's friend is our blessing! From now on, you are our Ye Family's most beloved and cherished kin!”
“It is our greatest honor in three lifetimes, Miss Xie!”
On the surface, they all agreed enthusiastically, while inwardly sneering.
They all knew Ye Fan was rushing back with the prisoner and believed Xie Litang was playing emotional cards out of desperation. They swore that once they were safe, this woman would die.
They were safe for the moment.
Xie Litang had also gained teammates.
In conclusion...
...both sides felt like they had come out ahead.
