Yu Wuyong froze in place. The blatant mockery felt like slaps to his face, burning hot.
Burning with shame and anger, he roared in the direction of the voices, “Who was it?! Who dares slander me, Wuyong?! Step forward!”
“You dare to do it but don't have the guts to admit it? Fine! Today, I will show you all what it means to be Yujing reborn!”
Spotting a few shifty figures retreating into the crowd, Yu Wuyong immediately locked onto his targets. He grabbed a long wooden bench, spun it behind his back, and swung it violently to scatter the crowd before charging straight after the fleeing figures.
“I'll use you death-seeking fools to test the Eighteen Yujing Styles I comprehended from Senior Brother Bai!”
He shouted as he unleashed the corresponding moves on the figures he caught up to one by one: “Yujing Chop! Yujing Thrust! Yujing Slash! Yujing Sweep! Yujing Leap Slash!”
“Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!”
“Hmph! Utterly pathetic! A bunch of trash like you aren't even worthy of knowing Senior Brother Bai's name. If there is a next time... Yujing Flash!”
“Insolent fools! How dare you resist in the presence of Little Yujing! You truly are hopelessly stubborn! The final style of the Eighteen Yujing Styles—Yujing's Wrath, Heaven and Earth Tremble!”
Brother, please stop, just stop. You can have the name Bai Yujing, okay?
Among the onlookers outside the door, Zhuang Xun didn't dare to lift his head.
Dammit, why is he the one chanting these embarrassing lines, yet I'm the one dying of second-hand embarrassment?! Use your own name, you bastard!
...
“Kill, kill, kill, kill!”
On the second floor of the dining hall, the mindless Luo Yangguan chased the three youths all the way upstairs.
In a corner, a youth with a scholarly aura reacted differently from the other seated disciples who had yet to realize what was happening. He immediately ducked, holding onto a table as he backed away.
But just as he moved away from the table, someone slammed hard into his shoulder from behind.
“Ouch!” The person who bumped into him cried out in pain, immediately playing the victim. “Rat Renchou! I only scolded you a few times the other day, and you actually dare to attack people in the dining hall?!”
Su Renchou had just stabilized himself and turned around when he realized things were going south. Casting aside his worries about drawing Luo Yangguan's attention, he scrambled to his feet and ran.
But another person appeared in front of him, blocking his path.
“You're the one who started this! Brother Li, help me!”
The man behind him roared. Without giving Su Renchou a chance to explain, he teamed up with the man in front to attack him.
Su Renchou didn't dare to strike back. Utilizing his Leap Step, he dodged left and right as he retreated into a corner, his eyes dating in all directions as he searched for an opportunity to escape.
Shlick!
It was the sound of a sharp weapon piercing into flesh.
Su Renchou froze. He stared in disbelief at the person who had just plunged a knife into his own shoulder.
With a pale face, the man gave Su Renchou a sinister grin. He then pulled out the bloody knife, threw it at Su Renchou's feet, and shrieked at the top of his lungs, “Ahhh! I'm bleeding! He has a knife! Rat Renchou has a knife! He actually used a knife in the dining hall!”
“I—”
“Su Renchou! How dare you attack someone in broad daylight!”
“Brother Zhao only had a minor conflict with you a few days ago! How could you go so far as to stab him?!”
Su Renchou looked at the men who were accusing him while completely blocking the view of the onlookers. His heart sank; he knew he had no way to clear his name now.
...
Eh? A fight broke out upstairs too? Zhuang Xun thought, looking up toward the second floor as he ate.
“What is going on here?! Stop this instant!”
A voice boomed from behind. He turned and saw Huang Wei, along with several instructors from other courtyards, running in with a squad of Law Enforcement disciples.
They ignored the disciples watching the spectacle outside, charging straight in to apprehend those involved in the brawls.
“Yujing Thrust! Yujing Chop! Yujing Block! Yujing...” Yu Wuyong single-handedly sent three people fleeing in terror. He felt that every single move he executed today was incredibly smooth, as if he were receiving divine assistance from Yujing himself.
Senior Brother Bai must have possessed me!
Filled with excitement, he ignored his fleeing opponents and immediately closed his eyes to meditate.
The world grew hazy as the surrounding noise faded away. Countless insights flooded his mind—all of them realizations based on Bai Yujing's every word and action!
Suddenly, he felt an inexplicable force push him, and his body began to lose balance.
Bang!
A sharp pain shot through his forehead, abruptly dragging him out of his divine state.
Yu Wuyong tried to hold onto it, tried to keep the feeling, but he still couldn't stop his consciousness from returning to reality.
No—!
“Did this kid just have a sudden enlightenment?”
“Enlightenment my foot! He's just trying to play dumb to escape punishment!” sneered the Law Enforcement disciple who was pinning Yu Wuyong to the ground.
Before long, the Law Enforcement disciples rounded up all the troublemaking disciples and brought them down to the first floor of the dining hall.
“Kill, kill, kill, kill!”
Still pinned by the Law Enforcement disciples, Luo Yangguan continued to roar and struggle violently.
Slap! A horse-faced Law Enforcement disciple walked up and slapped him across the face. Luo Yangguan's eyes instantly cleared, and he lowered his head in silence.
“You guys think you're pretty tough, huh?! Stirring up trouble in the dining hall! Look at how mighty you all are!” Huang Wei roared in anger as he scanned their dejected faces.
“All of you, go to the back mountain and spend a month in solitary confinement! Reflect on your actions!”
“A month?” Su Renchou looked up. “Then will we still make it in time for the promotion assessment?”
“Heh, you still want to participate in the promotion assessment after this? If you don't reflect properly, we'll lock you up for a few more months!”
Su Renchou bit his lip and lowered his head.
Luo Yangguan remained silent.
Having been lost in a daze, Yu Wuyong's eyes slightly regained their focus. His mouth twitched, but in the end, he didn't say a word.
If it were Senior Brother Bai, he would definitely take responsibility for his actions and accept the punishment calmly.
Even though they provoked me first, it was still my fault for fighting back in public. As Little Yujing, I cannot tarnish Senior Brother Bai's reputation!
But if I can't participate in the promotion assessment, I will lose my chance to enter the Phaseless Courtyard forever. How will I ever meet Senior Brother Bai again and follow in his footsteps?
If you're too afraid to face the consequences, Yu Wuyong, do you even deserve to be called Little Yujing?!
Steeling his resolve, Yu Wuyong decided to accept his fate calmly.
But then, another thought struck him. This matter has blown up so much, will Senior Brother Bai find out about it? Will my performance today catch his eye? If Senior Brother Bai learns of this, will he think, 'This kid is just like me,' praise me highly, and take me in as his follower?
At that thought, Yu Wuyong suddenly stopped resisting the punishment. He even felt a faint sense of anticipation.
I, Little Yujing, dare to act and dare to take responsibility! He raised his head proudly, causing Huang Wei to frown. This brat committed an offense, yet he still dares to act so arrogant?
“Junior Brother Liu, sorry for the trouble,” Huang Wei said in a low voice, walking over to the horse-faced Law Enforcement disciple after finishing his lecture.
“Mhm.” The Law Enforcement disciple surnamed Liu nodded.
Under normal circumstances, Outer Court disciples who started brawls in public areas would be expelled from the martial academy.
However, Huang Wei had once been Chief Disciple Bai's instructor. Since the latter had sent word asking to lighten the punishment for these disciples, Huang Wei was willing to grant him this favor.
“Take them away.” With a wave of his hand, the Law Enforcement disciples behind him escorted the troublemaking disciples out of the dining hall.
Zhuang Xun watched them leave, then scooped another spoonful of rice into his mouth.
“I really didn't expect something like this to happen today, Brother Yan.”
“Brother Liu.” Hearing someone call out from behind, Zhuang Xun nodded and sighed. “Indeed, it's quite unbelievable. I haven't even finished my meal.”
“Haha, fortunately, I eat quickly,” the speaker laughed as he fell into step beside Zhuang Xun.
He was tall, matching Yan Pingsheng's height, with thick eyebrows, large eyes, and a handsome, heroic bearing.
His name was Liu Ziyang, a young master from an influential family. He had met Yan Pingsheng over a month ago, proactively befriending him after learning that Yan Pingsheng was from the same hometown as Bai Yujing.
“Brother Yan, what do you think happened? How did the three great experts of our Outer Court end up in a brawl?”
“I'm not sure.” Zhuang Xun returned to his previous seat and continued eating.
Although he said that, he could easily guess that someone was definitely pulling the strings behind the scenes. Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence that the three great experts of the Outer Court all got into conflicts in the dining hall on the exact same day, right on the eve of the promotion assessment?
Liu Ziyang said, “But Brother Yu and the others were too impulsive. To stir up such trouble right before the promotion assessment... I heard Instructor Huang say from a distance that they'll be placed in solitary confinement. I'm afraid they'll miss this promotion assessment. What a pity, what a pity...”
An inexplicable smile flickered across his face before being quickly suppressed.
However, this did not escape Zhuang Xun's notice.
Zhuang Xun paused his chewing for a moment, then continued eating as if nothing had happened.
