Victor's face looked extremely grim. After all, the other person was right—while luck was impressive and could work miracles in many situations, it truly wasn't omnipotent.
Judging by the current situation, he really struggled to imagine any way “luck could cause someone's death.” Choking to death on water? But what if she didn't drink any water? The earth overhead suddenly collapsing? But this underground space had been forged by a powerful extraordinary's ability, making a cave-in practically impossible.
Just as Victor was at a complete loss for what to do, a series of booming rumbles suddenly rang out. The commotion was so tremendous that Victor could even feel the ground trembling beneath his feet.
Moreover, this colossal disturbance was approaching his position at a steady speed, growing louder and louder.
The purple-haired woman couldn't help showing a puzzled expression as well. “What the hell is that noise?”
“Boom!”
In the very next second, the wall behind Victor exploded as if struck head-on by a train. Dust and rubble instantly engulfed the entrance to the cell, forcing Victor to squint and frantically fan the air in front of his face with his hand.
Only a few seconds later did he manage to see clearly: a girl with long red hair, most of her clothes soaked red with blood, stood in the gaping hole in the wall, looking around left and right.
War Freya said, “Not bad. Looks like I didn't take a wrong turn.”
After the main body left, she had begun searching for Victor and David. However, this place was a labyrinth after all, and finding people was no simple task. So, after a brief moment of thought, War Freya had simply started charging in a straight line.
Who cared about some maze? If a wall blocked her path, she just shattered it with a kick. Along the way, because she made quite a racket, several cultists had naturally drawn near. But considering that even Tarik, one of the Four Great Protectors, had been casually kicked to death by War Freya, there was no need to even mention these ordinary cultists.
Many of them didn't even get the chance to fight War Freya; as she kicked down the walls, they were struck by collapsing masonry and flying stones, dying instantly on the spot.
For the slightly luckier cultists who managed to dodge the falling walls, dealing with them was merely a matter of a single swing from War Freya.
Back in the present, looking at Victor and David before her, War Freya couldn't help wondering. Sure, she had been the one looking for them, and she had picked a random direction and found them, but did that count as her having good luck?
At the same time, as the ones being searched for, Victor and David were the greatest beneficiaries of War Freya arriving so quickly.
War Freya asked, “You two are Victor and David?”
After a brief stupor, a look of wild ecstasy broke out across Victor's face. “Yes!”
Admittedly, War Freya's current appearance was somewhat terrifying. Her cheeks and clothes were covered in blood, giving the first impression of an unhinged beauty—a homicidal maniac. At first, Victor had assumed she was one of the Four Great Protectors, an enemy, but now it seemed she was an ally!
As for where this ally had come from? Without a second thought, she was most likely on the great boss Freya's side. The Wheel of Destiny—Victor certainly remembered that organization, and he had even said he wanted to join it.
War Freya casually kicked away a few pieces of rubble beside her. Brushing the dust from her clothes with one hand, she stepped forward and said, “All right, all right. Stand behind me. Leave this place to me.”
From start to finish, she ignored the purple-haired woman entirely, paying her no heed whatsoever. After all... War Freya currently knew nothing about the Four Great Protectors, nor did she know that this purple-haired woman was one of the top combatants of the Holy Blessing Society.
Though... even if she did know, she wouldn't care anyway.
The purple-haired woman was thoroughly enraged by War Freya's attitude. Gritting her teeth, she snapped, “Damn it, where the hell did you pop out from?!”
With a wave of her hand, the dark green sphere of light she had been gathering for so long suddenly expanded, bursting forth into a beam of light nearly a meter in diameter. War Freya recognized at a glance that this was the same type of ability as Life Freya's light cannon.
The only difference was that this light cannon clearly possessed a special effect. Feeling that chilling, deathly aura, War Freya immediately thought of the Death Pathway.
Her opponent's attack was swift. If this were the old War Freya, she certainly wouldn't have been able to dodge it. But after advancing to Rank Five, her speed was entirely leagues ahead of what it used to be. The moment the purple-haired woman made her move, War Freya sprang into action, lightly leaping sideways to effortlessly clear the blast radius of the light cannon.
Victor wasn't idling either. He immediately raised his hand, took aim, and pulled the trigger. Driven by luck, his revolver fired a bullet with special effects, its power magnified several times over, hitting the purple-haired woman in the blink of an eye.
However, Victor discovered to his shock that his attack passed right through her body, failing to hit her at all!
As it turned out, the one talking to him all along hadn't been the purple-haired woman's true body at all, but merely a phantom!
Glancing at Victor, the purple-haired woman sneered, “Heh, did you really think I'd stand before you so completely defenseless in my true body?”
But after sneering, she looked toward where her light cannon had dissipated and saw an unscathed War Freya. Her brow furrowed slightly as she added, “Then how about this?”
Dispelling the orb of light in her hand, the purple-haired woman clasped her hands together. The dark green patterns on the cell floor glowed even more brilliantly. At the same time, a cloud of green mist drifted out from behind her, deep within the cell.
A debuff plus poison!
Since this was underground, it was a sealed environment by nature. The light cannon earlier could be dodged, but what about poison gas? In just a dozen seconds, this poisonous mist would flood every inch of the open area, leaving nowhere to hide!
Victor and David instantly felt even worse, both wearing bitter expressions. At the same time, however, they pinned all their hopes on the unfamiliar red-haired girl who had just arrived—War Freya.
David blurted out to Victor, “Wait, your luck actually worked?! A reinforcement who looks super badass really just materialized out of thin air?!”
Victor replied, “I told you, luck is incredible!”
By now, War Freya had stepped in front of the two. Watching the dense poisonous mist drifting over from the back of the cell, she paused in thought for a brief moment before slowly raising both hands. Everyone assumed she was about to unleash some extraordinary ability, and David in particular stared at her with glowing eyes, eagerly anticipating what kind of ultimate move was coming.
As it turned out... War Freya simply clapped her hands together with immense force.
“Boom—!!!”
A colossal shockwave of displaced air blasted outward in all directions with War Freya at its center. As for the poison gas in the cell, it was blown right back to wherever it had come from.
The purple-haired woman was utterly dumbfounded. “Huh?”
