After digging down a bit, Mo Shao sealed the top.
“As I dig down, you two seal up the space above us,” she instructed the two beside her.
“So that if anyone else tries to dig in later, they won’t find us immediately, right?” Little Ka wagged a finger, finishing Mo Shao’s thought for her.
“Mhm, you’re getting the hang of this,” Mo Shao said with a smile.
“I’ve just spent enough time around you,” Little Ka waved her hand dismissively, looking somewhat proud of herself… though it was hard to say what exactly she was proud of.
“We’re here.” Mo Shao felt a surge of joy. After digging down about a dozen blocks, the surrounding blocks changed from sand to Sandstone Bricks.
This proved they had indeed found a Pyramid. Next, it was just a simple matter of digging into the tomb corridor.
Without any accidents, they dug down several dozen more blocks before successfully entering the Pyramid.
The tomb corridor was pitch black, filled with the scent of decaying dust and sand.
“So this is the inside of a Pyramid?” Little Ka looked around curiously. “It feels really eerie.”
“It is a tomb chamber, after all.” Mo Shao shook her head and produced a torch, lighting up the area. “Next up is finding the treasure chests.”
“Finding chests, finding chests!” Aris looked very excited.
It didn’t take long for them to find a Gold Chest after heading down a bit further, surrounded by a bunch of pots.
“Pan-paka-pan! Aris found a treasure chest!” Racing to the front, Aris joyfully raised her hands in the air.
That “Pan-paka-pan!” was her imitation of the item acquisition sound effect from an old pixel game—a very Aris-like thing to say.
One could only say that she had a child’s heart to begin with, and as a highly compatible Innate Transformer, the speed of her character transformation was quite staggering.
As for the contents of the chest…
A Sandstorm in a Bottle, which provided a double jump that could reach a height of a dozen meters; and a Flying Carpet, which allowed for a brief horizontal hover. Both were quite useful items.
On the other hand, they didn’t get the Pharaoh’s set, which actually had the highest drop rate… but it didn’t matter, as that set was honestly useless.
There was also a Swiftness Potion, a consumable for speed, which was quite good and would likely be useful in the future.
Mo Shao distributed the two mobility items to Aris, since she and Little Ka could already fly.
“We have to break the pots too.” Aris took out her Sword of Light and smashed all the pots near the Gold Chest, causing a pile of items to pop out.
“Torches, Rope, Bombs, Shuriken, Lesser Healing Potions, Recall Potions, Wormhole Potions, and 8 Gold, 30 Silver, 50 Copper coins…”
“The three types of potions are quite useful.”
Healing potions needed no explanation; even the Lesser ones had quite a decent effect, especially since they provided an instant health boost.
A Recall Potion would return the person who drank it to their spawn point. Of course, this didn’t mean it would teleport you back into your mother’s womb.
If it actually did that, it would be a bit too horrifying…
In the apocalypse, any mention of a “spawn point” referred to the location the person was in at the moment the apocalypse began.
It was essentially a teleportation item for saving one’s life, however… it was actually quite limited.
Since the Phantom Realm and Real Realm were intertwined, the space of the world had long since been scrambled. Naturally, these spatial items couldn't teleport someone across vast distances.
They generally teleported the user toward the appropriate direction and could usually only cross through one to three transitional zones between different worlds.
If the space of the current world was too stable or dense, the user might not even be able to cross one zone. So, the effectiveness of the item was highly dependent on where it was used.
If the Real Realm or Phantom Realm regions along that path were large, one could potentially teleport very far.
The Wormhole Potion, meanwhile, teleported the user to a teammate. It was essentially a one-time use “teleport,” making it extremely useful.
“Alright, let’s keep moving.” After packing everything away, Mo Shao continued down the tomb corridor. It was much more convenient now that they didn’t have to dig.
“We’ll find the Underground Desert, check the situation, and then call it a day,” she said, glancing at the time. “It’s almost night.”
There was still some time left—but returning the way they came would take time too, and that had to be taken into account.
Entering the Underground Desert at night would be an incredibly poor choice. After all, monsters at night had target-seeking guidance.
After walking down several dozen more blocks, the surrounding environment changed again. The Sandstone Bricks gave way to Sandstone blocks and Hardened Sand.
The color shifted from yellow to a deeper, more somber reddish-brown.
This symbolized that they were about to arrive at the Underground Desert, which was where the real wealth lay… but for now, they had to head back.
“Let’s go, we’re retreating.” Mo Shao was decisive and didn't hesitate. It was better to be safe than sorry in the early stages.
They headed all the way back up. Before digging her way out, Mo Shao scouted the surface situation. Only after confirming there was no one around did she make her move.
Although the Underground Desert was large enough for many people to explore, she wanted to enjoy it exclusively for as long as possible.
After driving back to the vicinity of Seven Hills City, Mo Shao put away the car, activated invisibility, and arrived soundlessly on top of the city walls.
As usual, she dug a small hole in their old spot, tucked the suitcase inside, and sealed the entrance to the hole again.
They were back in their small, isolated world.
The entire time, they had zero interaction with the people inside Seven Hills City, avoiding all conflict and friction. Life was peaceful.
No one knew their exact location, and that was the true essence of survival. Drawing attention all the time was just asking for trouble, wasn't it?
—After all, there was no benefit to being famous right now.
“Well then, let’s sleep early tonight. Tomorrow at dawn, we’ll head to the Underground Desert,” Mo Shao made the arrangements… but they were just arrangements.
After all, the sky in Guangdong in early November turned dark very quickly. It was pitch black by six o’clock, and going to sleep at six… was just too difficult.
Never mind Little Ka, who was naturally a night owl (every high school student knows the feeling), and Aris (a game lover with no parents to supervise her).
Even Mo Shao herself felt it was a bit too early.
Usually at this time, she would be busy with all sorts of preparations for the night watch to face the nocturnal monster tide.
But now, without any special events occurring, the defenders of Seven Hills City were more than enough to handle things, so she found herself quite idle.
Even after planting the gathered herbs and dealing with various miscellaneous tasks, it was only seven o’clock… and she couldn't sleep.
Mo Shao looked around and saw the other two were building a house… Well, since she only knew how to build matchbox houses, she decided to skip that.
She would spend the time organizing the tech-side knowledge, various blueprints, and common mystic lore in her head…
—When the time came, she’d make them both learn it all!
